Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Gallery?
The Gallery is a virtual reality fantasy exploration video game inspired by dark 80’s fantasy movies and classic graphic adventure games. The game has a deep narrative with bizarre characters who take you on an adventure through fantastical environments while challenging you with physical interactions and puzzle solving.  We are not modifying or porting a game to be accessible in virtual reality, we have built The Gallery to be a VR experience from the ground up, with the intricacies of the medium driving every aspect of design.

We have one more episode planned in the current series, but The Gallery universe goes well beyond Elsie’s story…

How do I play The Gallery?
Fully immersed inside the world of The Gallery, you will be guided through an engaging storyline full of unique interaction challenges and meaningful puzzle solving. Physically use your hands to interact with objects – carry and throw virtually everything in the game, open doors, and insert objects into spaces/sockets. But do not get your fingers caught. Cloudhead Games is not responsible for missing fingers, arms, toes, etc.
How can I buy The Gallery?
The Gallery – Episode One: Call of the Starseed is available now on SteamOculus Home. and Viveport.
The Gallery – Episode Two: Heart of the Emberstone is available now on Steam, Oculus Home, and Viveport.

You can also get both episodes in a Steam bundle! Or try the Heart of the Emberstone: Coliseum sandbox for FREE!

How can I play The Gallery for FREE?
Taken straight from the heart of adventure, Coliseum is a special sandbox version of a level found in The Gallery – Episode 2: Heart of the Emberstone, made available free for virtual reality. We wanted to give players a way to delve into the mystery, master the Gauntlet, and get a taste of the world of fantasy and adventure found within The Gallery.

Try the Heart of the Emberstone: Coliseum sandbox for FREE!

Can I play The Gallery at my local VR arcade?
Yes! Our games are available in CTRL-V and VR Junkies arcades. If you would like to play The Gallery at another venue, have the arcade contact us directly.

VR Arcade owners: Both episodes of The Gallery are available for Commercial Licensing on Steam.  For more details about licensing VR games and instructions for signing up, please visit Steam. If you would like to feature Heart of the Emberstone: Coliseum in your arcade, or have any questions about licensing, please contact us.

Are there accessibility features?
There are puzzles which require some physicality to solve, but The Gallery is at first an exploration game, and not an action game. It is designed to consider varying heights, hearing impairment (subtitles are in at launch of Episode 2 and coming very soon in an Episode 1 patch), color-blindness, and includes various skin tones and gender-neutral hand sizes in the settings to ensure immersion for all players.
Is The Gallery available in my language?
Currently The Gallery is available in English, with English subtitles. Episode 2 – Heart of the Emberstone now supports Simplified Chinese subtitles and menus. We hope to add more language support in the future! Please contact us if you would like to see your language in the game.
I've got an Iron Stomach; does this game support traditional locomotion (aka Stick Move)?
As a launch title for VR, Call of the Starseed had to ensure player comfort as the technology reached mainstream audiences. Cloudhead became a pioneer of VR teleporation with “Blink,” the default locomotion in Starseed, back in 2015. While Blink remains the default for its cinematic feel, we’re currently looking into adding traditional locomotion options in a future update.
I am a Kickstarter backer. How do I get a copy of the game?
First of all, THANK YOU for supporting Cloudhead Games. This would not have begun without your help. We have always been very proud and honoured by your continued support.
If you pledged $25 or more through our Kickstarter, congratulations, you have already pre-ordered all episodes of The Gallery. Backers have received surveys through Kickstarter. If you have questions, please contact Cloudhead Games.
I'm having trouble with the game or found a bug. What do I do?
Please contact us if you need help. You may also find the answer you need in our Call of the Starseed Steam forum.

Bugs can be reported through this form. Thanks!
